Garage conversion into a detached dwelling.
Contacted following a planning refusal by others, Studio MODA Architects were instructed to investigate this challenging small project with a Brief to create a dwelling involving the conversion of an existing double tandem garage located within an urban parking court. A totally fresh approach was needed to answer the planner’s reservations and this was provided by an “introverted” design that faced away from the car park and included a south-facing, secret courtyard garden, with each of the amenity rooms having an aspect onto it. This modern, sustainable and contemporary conversion includes a monopitch sedum roof.
